Hachijojima Island: Southern Izu Islands of Eternal Spring
With an annual average temperature of 18 °C (64 °F), you could say that this island enjoys an eternal spring. Hachijojima Island is the southernmost island of the major Izu Islands. The island is located 287 kilometers (178 miles) south of Tokyo in the Pacific Ocean, at about the same latitude as Sasebo City in Nagasaki Prefecture and Cape Muroto in Kochi Prefecture. Hachijojima Island, which is administrated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, enjoys milder weather than Kagoshima Prefecture in Kyushu. Hachijojima Island is also a fascinating island where flowers bloom and subtropical plants grow naturally. Here, visitors can enjoy everything that the sea and mountains have to offer.
